"within above below the skin" is a site specific installation designed and constructed in response to the historic estate and works of American sculptor, Augustus Saint-Gaudens in Cornish, NH.

As a recipient of the Saint-Gauden's fellowship, this project was a year in the making and garnered extensive research into the American Civil War and Saint-Gauden's political and creative influence during that time. The works in this installation bridged a dialogue with the site-specific art performance "Crossings", (included in portfolio) which took place in front of the SC state capitol on the 150 anniversary of the burning of Columbia.

This is a view of both installation rooms. One space housed a glass and porcelain sculpture, while the second, a constellation of the night sky as seen from the SC state capitol the night of February 17, 1865.
