"Rhizome" is a site-specific Installation located within a vacant church in Charlotte, NC and developed as a collaboration with architecture students at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
Growing out of a series of landscape drawings I created while a resident artist at the McColl Center for Visual Art, Rhizome engages the surrounding natural environment, the history of the site and the local community.
Structural elements also took into consideration elements of time, light, and architecture further creating a space in response to activity present within the local environment.
During its month on view, the local community was invited to utilize and respond to the work in creative ways. Art classes, photo-shoots, music and dance performances were among the many activities continuously reshaping the work and site during its life.
