Broken Car Windshields, Wood & Black Paint
15' x 13' x 30'
Deluge (2014), explores the organic structure of a suggested waterfall form. She describes its site specific construction in the gallery as a process of organizing lines; in accordance, the twenty foot cascade of black glass undulates like a gestural drawing. The cracks of the glass create a dynamic flow of lines, shapes and forms, offset by the verticality of the visible framework of its wooden substructure. Given its weight and material, the glass creates an unexpected sense of continuous fluidity and motion. Sourced from cracked car windshields painted black on one side, each piece of glass is uniquely imbued with the potential of a tragic history while the piece as a whole, the deluge, can be considered a cleansing, a washing away, a renewal.
